Cool Facts about Dan Campbell
Dan wanted to play quarterback and had a great throwing arm, but an assistant coach had a son who was a Junior and wanted to be the quarterback. He had a decent arm and was about the same size as Dan but 4 inches taller, and they needed a tight End, so Dan became the Tight End. As a freshman, he earned the Varsity position; People in his family matured early. Interestingly enough, the coach switched to an option offense, and most plays involving throwing had the tight end doing it. The kid that played quarterback later played at a Junior College and now manages an Olive Garden.
He didn't know anyone that died on 9-11. Unfortunately, many of his Annapolis classmates did, and he couldn't imagine if he had lost anyone. If the Trade towers hadn't been attacked, he probably wouldn't have Joined Delta Force and may have even retired from the Navy. Then you wouldn't hear his story.
Dan Couldn't sing; he liked to but couldn't hit a note on purpose. He often wished he had learned piano and how to sing, but other things got in the way.
When first practicing with the Samurai Sword, he cut two fingers off his ear 3 times, the tip of his nose, and several cuts. Luckily, he could heal himself.
